Season by baking

Frozen crickets provide the additional option of seasoning the crickets through baking. Baking crickets is a less fatty way to get flavors to adhere to crickets. With crickets that have already been dried, there is a high likelihood they will burn with much further baking.

Preheat oven to 210F (100C).

Place one pound of frozen crickets into a strainer and rinse under cold water for at least 30 seconds. Continue rinsing until the crickets are no longer chunked together; each individual cricket needs to be free of ice.

Shut off the water and strain as much water from the crickets as possible. The more water remaining on the crickets, the longer you will have to bake the crickets.

Place the crickets in a bowl and stir in seasoning.
